More growth announced by CISCO for mobile markets worldwide

Mobile, mobile, mobile… whether at home or travelling, anywhere you might be, almost everything you do is somehow related to your smartphone or a different sort of mobile contraption. We nowadays find ourselves more connected to mobile devices with each day that passes. And recent studies show that it is just the beginning...

Fast-paced times require quick, reliable solutions and the mobile industry definitely manages to provide, as smartphones have today the technical specs that computers had during the last decade. Each year the major mobile phone companies compete for leadership when it comes to producing the fastest, most powerful, or the shiniest handheld gadget out there. Fortunately for them, the demand is also high and, according to networking specialists CISCO, it will only continue growing in the years that follow.

This year’s CISCO annual Visual Networking Index has all the details regarding the possible growth of all mobile-related markets, based on traffic statistics and we have taken the liberty to extract part of them here, for you. The predictions made by the networking gurus at CISCO are up to 2018.
      
-    Monthly global mobile data traffic will surpass 15 exabytes by 2018
-    The average mobile connection speed will surpass 2 Mbps by 2016
-    Tablets will exceed 15 percent of global mobile data traffic by 2016
-    4G traffic will be more than half of the total mobile traffic by 2018
-    There will be more traffic offloaded from cellular networks (on to Wi-Fi) than remain on cellular networks by 2018
-    The number of mobile-connected devices will exceed the world’s population by 2014
-    By 2018, over half of all devices connected to the mobile network will be “smart” devices

Some of the growth examples provided by CISCO are also encouraging for all mobile business enthusiasts, as these recent past years show impressive increases in traffic data, all over the world. India pulled off an outstanding 116% growth solely between 3Q 2012 and 3Q 2013, as reported by Reliance Communications. Next in line are countries like China, with 72% and Japan – 66%. Closer to home, on the old-continent, Sweden was the leader, with a 69% increase in mobile traffic from mid-2012 to mid-2013. France was very close with 60%, followed by Germany – 40% and Italy – 34%.
